June 04 23:55 2020
Black Reflections TV free streaming network launches on Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and on the web at https://BlackReflections.tv during June’s Black Music Month.

Los Angeles – June 4, 2020 – Black Reflections TV (BRTV) is a new AVOD (ad-supported video on demand) TV network offering consumers hundreds of hours of classic Black movies, TV shows, engaging podcasts, fun games, and more – absolutely free. Viewers can watch content and full movies on Roku TV, Amazon Fire TV, on the web, on their phones, and on their mobile devices at https://blackreflections.tv.

What makes Black Reflections TV unique is that it offers a curated channel and web video portal featuring premium original content, fun games, classic Black movies and TV shows like action favorites such as Black Cobra and Way of the Black Dragon, dramatic musicals such as Lying Lips and Sepia Cinderella, and rich nostalgic pieces such as The Jackie Robinson story, Purlie Victorious, The Joe Louis Story and The Emperor Jones starring legendary actors, singers, and performers such as Lena Horne, Harry Belafonte, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Sammy Davis Jr., and Paul Robeson. The portal also offers Black Cinema based games such as movie-themed word finds and celebrity-inspired memory matching games to provide hours of playful engagement and relaxation.

This channel launch of the web portal and Fire TV app occurs this Black Music Month June 2020 with the ability to celebrate these performances and make them available to both original and new audiences. Black Reflections TV completed its soft launch debut on Roku in 2019. As new audiences continue to discover the channel, the growth has reached over 22,000 app installs.

For businesses that market their products via television ads on the channel, OTT TV advertising provides the most accurate and cost-effective targeting of any video ad format. Likewise, this distribution model allows content creators to retain control and ownership while still securing the ability to reach the viewers effectively. A unique combination of tech and media make this possible. Black Reflections TV was born out of a passion for entertainment and media, offers free ad-supported premium TV shows and movies, and the latest move on this mission is to assist viewers by bringing their favorite content all together in one place.

The proprietary technology stack that powers the channel and web portal is independently designed and developed by Maxie D. Collier who says, “l discovered that we could use technology to form and amplify our voices. Now, 33 years later, it is a joy and privilege to utilize this emerging OTT (Over-The-Top) TV technology to launch Black Reflections TV on multiple digital platforms.  Black Reflections TV allows us to continue to entertain audiences and work with our partners to bring this new offering of free streaming television and interactive entertainment.”  An early adopter, in the Summer of 1987, network founder and developer Collier used computers and an emerging technology at that time called desktop publishing to launch the regional magazine called Black Reflections.

Some of these first interviews and professional media projects were created to bring a cross-spectrum of Black history, art, culture, and knowledge.  A pipeline now exists with Black Reflections TV incorporating new technologies for filmmakers and artists as well. Viewers can watch for free and benefit from the enjoyment, education and entertainment available through this celebration of classic Black Cinema, strengthen their smarts with historic movie facts and relax with colorful, interactive movie-based games on the platform.
